MY TOWN – ONE OF THE BEST TRIBUTES TO A TOWN IN SCOTLAND

“My Town” is a Celtic-inspired anthem released by the Canadian band Glass Tiger in August 1991 as the fourth single from their platinum album, “Simple Mission“.

The song features vocals by Rod Stewart.

A Tribute to Scotland: Though Glass Tiger is a Canadian band, the lyrics are a personal tribute to Alan Frew’s hometown of Coatbridge, Scotland. The “Scotia” mentioned in the lyrics refers to the Medieval name for Scotland, rather than the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

The lyrics also mention “Burlington Bertie,” a nod to a famous music hall song that Frew says will be “in his heart forever“.

The song has a Celtic influence, blending mainstream pop-rock with traditional instrumentation and the emotional subject of “coming back home“.
